Live Review: LISTEN: Teen Daze 'Orange'

16 January 2014 | 10:44 am | Hannah Galvin

Canadian based producer Teen Daze has recently delivered his latest offering, 'Orange'.

Singularly addressed as Jamison and sonically noted as TEEN DAZE is a young Canadian based musician who has showed consistency in all of his music endeavours - most of which have been crafted from his bedroom.

With a catalogue full of EPs, singles and an LP, Teen Daze continues to maintain his creative balance as he's recently treated us with his latest work 'Orange'.

Opening with a lush collection of synths and watery, elemental textures, you'll soon discover that this is actually an altered exert from Smashing Pumpkins' 'Cupid De Locke'. Due to the imagery gathered from this more natural sounding version, the artist has instantaneously set us up with a world of interpretation as this soundscape cleverly paints a vivid picture, minus the tangible visuality.

This is with thanks to the familiar sounds of an untouched area made up of ecosystems, natural occurrences and breathtaking appearance that can be imagined when listening to the series of sounds used in this song.

This piece remains for the entirety of the track, morphing into the basis of 'Orange' as it is later brushed with further samples, beats, percussion, wind instruments and keys. Overall it's a magical journey that will restore the glisten in your eyes and the wonder in your heart, thanks to the promise of beauty within its nature.
