Live Review: LISTEN: Dru Hill 'Tell Me' (Dugong Jr. Remix)

The Aussie landscape has birthed yet another kickass producer with original style to boot. This time round coming from Melbourne (settle down Perth), a producer (not even sure if male or female - or both - yet) by the name of DUGONG JR.

This young gun has us bouncing along to some serious underwater vibrations that have been trickling out on SoundCloud over the last few months. DUGONG's latest offering is no different from this - a groovy, subtle helping of future R&B with an extra helping of sub-bass, something that has appropriately dubbed as 'Snuggle Beats'.

Taking on the legendary 90s R&B group DRU HILL, and their hit tune 'Tell Me', DUGONG JR. has revitalised the magic of the song and flipped it onto it's head with a beefy layer of bass, groovy, sexy synths and pitched down vocals.

There are lots of subtle designs within this remix, one of my favourites being the short inclusion of a classic rave drum break at the start of every bar in the chorus. Small things like this push this tune into a new level of tightness that will be bound to have your head nodding regardless of what decade you're living in.
