Live Review: WATCH: London Grammar 'Nightcall' (Official Video)

4 December 2013 | 5:35 pm | Lauren Payne

London Grammar have just released the music video for their cover of Kavinsky's eerie track 'Nightcall'.

After releasing their Metal & Dust EP earlier this year, British trio LONDON GRAMMAR have fast become one of the most popular bands around. With their singles 'Metal & Dust' and 'Hey Now' receiving skyrocketing plays on Soundcloud and a huge sum of downloads from iTunes, the band were a huge deal even before they released their debut album If You Wait.

If You Wait dropped a few months ago and since then LONDON GRAMMAR have been busy touring and sharing their music with the world, which makes you wonder how on earth they found the time to record their new music video?

The clip accompanies their track 'Nightcall', a cover originally released by French producer KAVINSKY back in 2010. The track was included on the soundtrack to the popular Ryan Gosling film Drive and now LONDON GRAMMAR have decided that it is time for the world to experience 'Nightcall' their way.

It's very slow-paced and has a hauntingly soft melody that kind of gives you the heeby-jeebies, which is probably it's original intention. Set across a beautiful piano and chimes, LONDON GRAMMAR's version of 'Nightcall' is wonderfully atmospheric and it's just what you'd expect from the trio, absolute bliss.

The video definitely shows you the overall atmosphere of the track. It's set in a dark park, most likely at midnight, with some eerie images foreshadowing a shot of LONDON GRAMMAR doing their thing. You see a girl alone on a swing just sitting and staring into space and a smoking car with one door open and no one inside before you are shown the trio performing 'Nightcall' pretty much without moving at all. Soon the eerie images begin again with an empty caravan and a group of people standing around a fire, the stillness is enough to creep you out but fortunately it shows the essence of 'Nightcall' perfectly.

Expect to see a lot more of LONDON GRAMMAR as they hit Australian shores this summer for Falls Festival and Field Day.
