Live Review: WATCH: Jon Hopkins 'Collider' (Official Video)

9 December 2013 | 2:01 pm | Tom Hutchins

Before Jon Hopkins lands in Australia, he had some time to release an brilliant video clip for his latest single 'Collider'.

Acclaimed UK producer, JON HOPKINS descends on Australia this week for Meredith Music Festival and a few solo sideshows. But before he does, he had some time to release an brilliant video clip for his latest single 'Collider'.

A cut from his excellent Immunity LP, which was released earlier this year, 'Collider' is a pulsating electronic wall of sound - with bass flooding the ears and minds of the listener. So it makes sense that it's accompanying clip would carry on this notion.

Directed by Tom Haines, the clip follows a young woman as she walks through an abandoned wasteland turned rave cave. Just as the track violently possesses the listener, it seems that this women has been violently possessed by the underground club, the music, and possibly a concoction of elicits. After a really intense make-out sesh, she hits the dance-floor... hard.

And even though at first glance, not a lot happens, and there doesn't seem to be any kind of narrative - there is something truly enthralling about the clip. As the five minutes elapses, you can't seem to take your eyes off this women as she acts demonically throughout her time in this club world.

Jon Hopkins will put out "Collider" as a digital/12" single on February 24, featuring remixes from Pangaea, Krenn, and Objekt. In the meanwhile, he's got an extended edition of Immunity which is out today via Domino.
