Live Review: SOUNDCLOUD WRAP: Young Franco

10 December 2013 | 3:31 pm | Hannah Galvin

We grabbed Brisbane's Young Franco for his top ten soundcloud picks!

Brisbane's Joey Da Rin is a 19 year old producer who dictates tunes well beyond his age. Musically referred to as YOUNG FRANCO, his style is made up of the sounds that he loves, as he chases "funky basslines, vocoders and old disco records" to create the desired combination for his perfect crafty world.

A name you should get to know, he's literally just released his original 'Believe Dat' that empowers a spritzy, dilated bundle of energy, made up of fantastic beats and great utility of the beloved vocoder.

We hit Young Franco up for his top ten Soundcloud tracks for this week's segment. Here's what he came back to us with!

RENZ 'First Contact'

'Lucky enough to be good mates with Renzy. He makes some of the dopest shit, all on a shitty 2002 PC. LARGE.'

CHILDISH GAMBINO '3005' (PACES Remix)

'Saw Paces’ live show a while back, this dude has been doing some really dope shit for a looonng time. This is one of my favs by him. 10/10 nice fella too.'

SABLE 'You Too'

'Found out about Sable through a friend and instantly fell in love. This dude is on some other shit. The real only way to categorise this is would be to call it “supercolourhyperfunkchillrave”.'

MO 'XXX 88' (KILTER Remix)

'This is 100% my favourite song right now, so catchy. There is no logical reason why Kilter isn’t as big as Beyonce.'

HUNTERS AND COLLECTORS 'Talking To A Stranger' (THE AVALANCHES Rework)

'Needs no introduction. The kings have returned.'

WOLFWOLF 'Until The Morning'

'Wolfwolf is a HUGE inspiration, I play this is every disco set. So funky and yet, so mysterious.'

KARTELL 'Pantera' (DARIUS Remix)

'So nice, don’t know how I stumbled upon this. It’s dope tho, always loved Darius. They both make dance/electronic as well as hip hop.'

AIRWOLF & JASPER 'Imitation'

'So good, definitely the kinda sound that I’ve been digging these days. Love the sample. Airwolf always brings the ruckus.'

RJD2 'Tempramental' (SAGE CASWELL Edit)

'Such a dope flip. Coming from a hip hop background I have always frothed RJD2 too.'

SAMPOLOGY & DJ BUTCHER 'Dancehall Queen'

'Couldn’t think of a better collab, these dudes were huge inspirations when I started DJing. Butchers all around talent + Sam’s love for African rhythms + FUCKING BEENIE MAN'
