Live Review: LISTEN: Sampha 'Too Much' (Loston Rework)

1 December 2013 | 3:26 pm | Lauren Payne

Perth-based producer Loston has released a great rework of Sampha's soulful track 'Too Much'.

LOSTON is slowly becoming one heck of a producer. Already he has polished off a fantastic rework of Mercury Prize winner JAMES BLAKE's killer track 'Retrograde', and another of DRAKE's track 'November 18'.

The kid has got talent and with the guidance of PALACE and SLUMBER JACK, LOSTON has reworked yet another smooth dance track with a vocal from SAMPHA.

LOSTON seems to have a good ear for melodies because from what we've heard, the man has created tracks that all seems to flow with the same rhythm and tone which just create beauty. The sunbeam synths, as you have probably noticed, are essential to this adaptation. Without it 'Too Much' would probably be quite bland but LOSTON has injected them in and created a big burt of energy in his rework and it's feeling like a great surge of energy.

LOSTON has the potential to make each quiet night at home a magical adventure for you, and your road trips seem like a dream. 'Too Much' has an atmospheric streak with it's bright synths and the intricate amount of reverb placed on SAMPHA's vocal track. The chorus of the rework will of course be what pushes you through though.
