CHILDISH GAMBINO, aka Donald Glover, graced us with his presence at this year’s Big Day Out festival and absolutely killed his evening set. The man is a legend, not only does he produce some pretty sweet tracks, he also stars as Troy the cutest ex-jock ever on the American sit-com, Community.

The actor and rapper definitely has both crafts down pat and with the release of his brand new track ‘Telegraph Ave’, we are shown that CHILDISH GAMBINO is totally cooler than Troy.

The release of ‘Telegraph Ave’ has two interesting stories behind it. The first is that CHILDISH GAMBINO tweeted the new track to his fans after it was leaked a few days earlier, but that’s not all. Along with the release of the original track, GAMBINO also tweeted the first remix of ‘Telegraph Ave’ which just happened to belong to Perth-based producer TA-KU.

As TA-KU explains on his Soundcloud page, the rapper approached him about remixing his new track a few months ago and TA-KU just could not say no. Now after some time we are presented with a great remix full of heavy bass lines and distorted vocals that are deep and hollow.

TA-KU‘s remix of ‘Telegraph Ave’ is full of layered synths and crazy beats. At first you wonder if it’s going to be like this the whole way through, but soon the synths die down and you can hear the melodic vocals of CHILDISH GAMBINO.  The melody of sweet synths carries ‘Telegraph Ave’ and you are left listening to a wonderfully melodic remix that has TA-KU written all over it.

Being asked to remix a track for CHILDISH GAMBINO could have been a pretty hard thing to grasp, luckily TA-KU took the opportunity with both hands and didn’t let go until the final product was what we have here now.
