WIN: Kite Club + High-Tails Melbourne Show Double Pass

7 November 2013 | 1:01 pm | Tom Hutchins

We're giving away 1x DOUBLE PASS to the Kite Club / High-Tails co-headline show at The Gasometer Hotel, Collingwood on November 9.

Two of Australia's brightest new guitar-pop bands teamed up over the last month, to get to know each other a little better ... and in turn, make a bunch of new friends and fans along the East Coast!

As some of you may know (and more have probably seen in action too), KITE CLUB [VIC] and HIGH-TAILS [NSW] have been sharing backline, scamming drink tickets and trading top tunes with each other as they embarked on a run of shows in through the east coast over October. Now that it's November, the tour has seen them roll right through the top end - and it's now Melbourne's turn.

Both acts have been receiving solid Triple J love, as well as some serious blog attention here and overseas - and are on the brink of completing their debuts. With Kite Club's LP slated for an early 2014 release, and High-Tails' EP due real soon.

The Melbourne stops are at Boney (formally known as Pony) on Thursday the 7th of November, and The Gasometer out in Collingwood on Saturday the 9th. And since the tour is called 'HOWDY', the guys from High-Tails were keen to give us their Top Five all time favourite Cowboy related music videos. You can check them out below:

The Shadows 'Apache'

"'Apache' is debatably one of the best western anthems to come out of the 60s and while it includes no lyrics for traditional cowboy storytelling, I have a feeling the message was received all the same."

Jonny Cash & June Carter 'Jackson'

"Every cowboy knows the tensions that come with maintaining a pure and healthy relationship. Sometimes one must let their hair down."

Bob Dylan 'Man Of Constant Sorrow'

"One of those traditional folk songs that depict the plight of a troubled wanderer. This is my favourite version because Bob Dylan is a cowboy ... in my eyes at least."

Woody Guthrie 'Talking Dustbowl Blues'

"A song about a busted-up old Ford and a thin stew. Speaks for itself, really."

The Beatles 'I've Just Seen A Face'

"Cowboy love objectified by none other than Paul McCartney. Our bass player Felix sang this song in a high school play. He was a cowboy that week."
