Live Review: LISTEN: Cashmere Cat 'With Me'

26 November 2013 | 4:48 pm | Hannah Galvin

Norwegian artist Cashmere Cat has just released the stellar first single of his forthcoming Wedding Bells EP titled 'With Me'.

Norwegian artist Magnus August Høiberg - also known as our favourite feline CASHMERE CAT - has passed details about his forthcoming EP Wedding Bells; the acting follow up to his 2012 debut EP Mirror Maru. To give us an inkling on what to expect, he's released Wedding Bells' first single 'With Me'.. Holy shit, it's so good.

Entering with the beautifully solemn piano work of Cashmere Cat's buddy Lido, 'With Me' takes a serious turn, punching in rusty sounds and trickling gentle, watery chimes over the somewhat sharp instrumentation. Enhanced even further by the vocals of Aryn Wuthrich, these are soon ridden by the disease of deformity, before being overtaken by a focus on desolate drum hits. The emptiness of this dehydrated chapter of the track is complemented by a buzzing bassline, creating an obscurely beautiful union before being adopted by a larger, busier soundscape.

With additional moments of scratched melodies, breathless synths, glimmering bells and hungry percussion, there's honestly so much to explore with this track, unlocking a whole new meaning of emotional.
