Flume & Chet Faker Preview 'Lockjaw' EP

19 November 2013 | 4:52 pm | Hannah Galvin

Australian wonders Flume and Chet Faker have announced the release of their collaborative Lockjaw EP, and have released the clip to its opening track!

Harley Streten and Nick Murphy are like two peas in a pod. Known to their fans as FLUME and CHET FAKER, the boys first worked together on 'Holdin' On' - just one of the critically acclaimed tracks off Flume's platinum self-titled album. Since touring together, they decided to record further, which has resulted in their collaborative EP Lockjaw.

It came about as the two were flying around the country for St. Jerome's Laneway Festival. Making the easy decision to again release music together, they spent four days shortly after the festival at Victoria's Sandy Point and Narre Warren to write the Lockjaw EP. So what came out of it? Three tracks of inevitable delight; melding the soul of Chet Faker's voice and Flume's intuitive production. Although to be released on Friday, the boys have dropped the EP's opening track, 'Drop The Game'!

Casting the spotlight on Faker's large voice accompanied by the track's solemn sonic motif, 'Drop The Game' launches straight into a story seemingly of significant loss. Soon hearing a greater Flume presence through a wider range of production, the track is a serious event that plays with a variety of samples to elaborate on this moody storyline.

Releasing the track alongside its own film clip, check out the amazing moves from Storyboard that he so graciously and effortlessly pulls off on the wet asphalt of a dark laneway.
