Live Review: WATCH: DCUP ft. Mereki 'Don't Be Shy' (Official Video)

1 October 2013 | 10:29 pm | Hannah Galvin

DCUP's new track 'Don't Be Shy' has been given the film clip treatment, Japan styles.

Last month, Wave Racer gave us his speedy remix of DCUP's 'Don't Be Shy' before the original could even be heard. Soon after, we were treated with the original version, which owned the hype it had received on the lead up to its release. With three other remixes under its belt, what's to come next of DCUP's 'Don't Be Shy'? The official film clip of course!

Directed by Tim White, the setting of DCUP's 'Don't Be Shy' is the perfect visual companion to go with the punchy beat, confident rhythm and breathy vocals of LA-based Mereki (who you also may know as one third of Goldroom's live outfit).

The Melbourne producer took his track exploring overseas, eventually landing in Japan. Open to interpretation, we either follow the dating life of one gal (played by Shibuhara Girls' Kozue Akimoto), heading in and out of relationships at different points in her life. The other way to look at it is watching three separate women all experiencing the same outcome from their own relationships turning bleak.

Which ever way you wish to view it, you'll notice that each other half is actually just a mannequin. What starts as the perfect boyfriend, the plastic sponge just isn't enough for a girl to pour her heart out to. So what does this mean for the end of the clip? Watch it to find out!
