Live Review: Flume Collaborates With Intel On 'Intelligent Sounds'

27 September 2013 | 12:34 am | Nick Luke

Flume and Intel team up to bring you 'INTELLIGENT SOUNDS', a performance of an exclusive tune performed by robots.

Aussie sensation FLUME has added another notch to his collaborative belt, this time with IT technology giants INTEL to create an installation of a robotics controlled performance - quite simply put as 'INTELLIGENT SOUNDS'

To focus on the creative prowess of INTEL's processors working in their line of tablets, the company got on board with FLUME to make some sweet, sweet music - all controlled via a tablet mounted to a robotic chasis - known as 'Felix The Robot Conductor'.

The robot controls an array of robotic machinery via tablets constructed for the performance, the tablets control robotic arms which, in turn trigger drums, synthesizers, horns and more. All tied together visually with a light show.

The track itself, is an original made by FLUME specifically for this video. It's quite a simple yet effective tune, working around a minimal riff, instruments slowly add to the framework to create a dense wall of sound.

Definitely an interesting concept, represented by a cool video packed with robots making music, what's not to like?
