Live Review: LISTEN: Loon Lake 'Mixtapes Episode 1'

The Melbourne-based merry band of five garage rockers, LOON LAKE have whipped up a mixtape in anticipation for their upcoming debut album entitled 'GLOAMER'.

The mixtape, simply named 'Episode 1' contains a healthy dose of tracks, with a fairly good balance of both hip-hop and indie rock. And what's even better? At the halfway point of the tape, LOON LAKE have included an exclusive cut from their album entitled 'It Was Only Love' which is a cruisy jam with overtones of crunchy guitars and hazy summery weather.

Nick, the drummer of LOON LAKE had this to say about the tape:

"This is a bunch of tracks that I think are cool and that I was listening to when we made the album. There is a song from Gloamer on here called ‘It Was Only Love’. I love this song. It’s one of my favourites. It was an old idea - we recorded a version of it ages ago. In fact, it might even still be on our Unearthed site. That version is real rocky but this one is a bit more soul-y or something. I think it sounds rad. Anyway, I thought that you could listen to my tape if you’re bored of whatever else you’re listening to. Gloamer comes out in about three weeks. Our tour starts then too. SEE YOU ALL SOON!"
