Laneway Festival 2014 Rumour Mill

6 September 2013 | 3:29 pm | Tony Kingston

On behalf of the Purple Sneakers Team, Tony Kingston has rounded up some of our thoughts about the Laneway Festival lineup for 2014.

By now you should all know what the 2014 Laneway Festival dates are and that the official line up is due on Tuesday September 24th. On behalf of the Purple Sneakers team, our contributor Tony Kingston put together a list of who we think will be on next year's bill.

CHVRCHES

Prior to CHVRCHES' brief Australian visit last month, Laneway Festival organisers tweeted the following: “Psyched for CHVRCHES sold out Australian shows this week! Don't worry if you missed out on tickets, they'll be back soon *hint hint”. This comment has well and truly convinced us the band will definitely be playing the festival in 2014. We're excited about it too!

WASHED OUT

If you're an internationally renowned act and release a new album, it's a no brainer that you need to play it live all around the world. USA's WASHED OUT released his second studio album 'Paracasm' last month and will be performing at Laneway Festival's new Detroit location on September 14th. He has already revealed he'll be returning to Australia in “the first couple of months of next year” and after being on the line up for the 2012 Laneway Festival in Australia, the organisers no doubt have a strong relationship with the man. Lock him in!

MOUNT KIMBIE

Not only did Laneway present a stage at Field Day in London which consisted of a DJ set by MOUNT KIMBIE, in May they also posted a YouTube link to the duo's track 'You Took Your Time' (Feat. KING KRULE) via Facebook with the comment “Digging this!”.

On top of all this, Laneway co-founder Danny Rogers stated, "Once again we join forces with our best pals Field Day London to program a seriously insane stage at their A1 event. We're both honoured and super excited to have such a crazy amazing bunch of acts play our stage, some of whom might even pop up on one or more of forthcoming Laneway events around the world soon!" We think MOUNT KIMBIE will be one of these acts.

KING KRULE

Let's face it, acts who collaborate together often enjoy touring with each other too. ALUNA GEORGE and DISCLOSURE are both going to be touring in Australia simultaneously at Listen Out and we think it'll be the same for MOUNT KIMBIE and KING KRULE at Laneway!

Aged at just 19, KING KRULE has just released his debut LP '6 Feet Beneath The Moon' which has copped a tonne of excellent reviews. He also provided vocals for MOUNT KIMBIE on two tracks from their latest album 'Cold Spring Fault Less Youth'. Wouldn't it be amazing to witness both acts perform these songs together live?

SAVAGES

The drummer of UK act SAVAGES, Fay Milton, spilled the beans earlier this year saying they would be in Australia in February 2014 for a festival tour. “We’re coming over in February next year. I don’t know if our festival has been announced actually, but I’ve been to the festival before, it should be good” Milton told The Vine. You can't get much more confirmed than that!
