WATCH: Violent Soho ‘Dope Calypso’ (Official Video)
If you’ve never travelled up (or down) to Brisbane before, be prepared to be given a grand tour by QLD boys, VIOLENT SOHO.
The band, who all got together in the South Brissy suburb of Mansfield, have only just gotten over a fair few album preview shows and various other gigs like Splendour In the Grass, celebrating the release of their new single ‘In The Aisle’. Now not that long after the video for ‘In the Aisle’ was released, VIOLENT SOHO have sprung back with a new music clip for a track called ‘Dope Calypso’.
The band have really been pumping out some great tunes since announcing their new album Hungry Ghost that is going to be released early next month. ‘Dope Calypso’ has a great bass line that thuds along with the steady drum beat. The lyrics actually sound quite sad, but the burst of guitar and bass just gives the track a burst of energy that lifts it up.
The video for the clip is really interesting and has the boys in some great locations across Brisbane. Locals like myself might actually recognise a few places, like the skate park hidden behind Suncorp Stadium, the beautiful views from the Story Bridge and a few casual streets that you may even live on.
The whole thing is shot in black and white and seems to reflect on the lovely experiences that VIOLENT SOHO have had over the past few months. That point is definitely emphasised by the gig footage and the energetic crowd that just goes nuts at their feet. This film clip kind of feels like a journey being told to us all via pretty lovely visuals, and honestly it couldn’t have turned out better!
The fantastic part is it doesn’t end here! VIOLENT SOHO‘s new album, Hungry Ghost, is set to be released through I OH YOU Records on September 5th, and soon after the boys are touring again all over the country. So more memories will be made on this next tour and hopefully you’ll all be apart of them.
The dates are below and stop by because from personal experience, I know how crazily energetic, loud and just how fun a VIOLENT SOHO show can be. STRAIGHT ARROWS will be accompanying the boys on this tour and all tickets can be bought from the bands website www.violentsoho.com.
