TOP FIVES: BigSound 2013 Acts

20 August 2013 | 12:02 am | Lauren Payne

With Brisbane's BigSound Music Conference just around the corner, we pick our Top Five acts to see when your floating through Fortitude Valley.

The biggest music event in Brisbane is back again this year and by god the line-up is astounding! Looking at all of the bands that are performing at this fine event that is the BigSound Music Conference 2013, makes me wish I could be at six stages at once.

Having bands spread all across Brisbane's Fortitude Valley over two fantastic nights is probably one of the best things a young Brisban-ite like myself can enjoy through out the year, but then come the question that I must ask myself; who am I going to see?

With over 80 acts booked for this two night event, how do you narrow it down to just five? Trust me, it's extremely difficult, that's inevitable, but it is still possible, just with a few honourable mentions thrown in for good measure. There are heaps of fantastic bands to see up here at BigSound 2013, but now let me tell you my Top Five picks and hopefully I'll see you guys all there.

ELIZABETH ROSE

If you haven't seen ELIZABETH ROSE live yet, BigSound is where you need to do it. Her mix of smooth electronic licks and sweet, heavenly vocals honestly leaves you breathless and she's ready to do that to everyone attending the second night of BigSound. Playing Bakery Lane, an outdoor venue for the event, ELIZABETH ROSE will stun you and you'll be hooked on her for a very long time, honestly I'm expecting a great show from ELIZABETH ROSE so definitely stop by.

CLUBFEET

The band from Sydney that are just taking over, CLUBFEET will be coming back to Brisbane to play BigSound. The boys have only recently finished a headline tour around the country, stopping at Oh Hello in Brisbane, and now they're back again for this grand festival. They put on a very smooth live show so expect that from them here, they won't disappoint, plus I'm sure you're ready to sing along to their track 'Everything You Wanted' when it's played like I'm sure many audiences did when CLUBFEET were touring previously.

BLOODS

Now there are plenty of awesome bands playing at BigSound this year but BLOODS I believe will blow the roof off Electric Playground when they take to the stage. The band have just released their EP Golden Fang so you can expect some new tracks full off their grungy-pop, sound good right? The trio have been getting a lot of praise lately because of  their EP and so see why these gals (and guy) are so rad when they play the first night of BigSound.

COSMO'S MIDNIGHT

Just their tracks are reasons to go and see the boys of COSMO'S MIDNIGHT when they play the The Rev up at BigSound. Their track 'Phantasm' is so lovely and ethereal, of which NICOLE MILLAR's vocals probably help with, but it's such a lovely track and is no doubt just as good, if not better, live out under the stars. COSMO'S MIDNIGHT have been pumping out great tracks lately like 'The Dofflin' and their rad remix of INDIAN SUMMER's 'Foreign Formula' so I say go for the tracks.

WILLOW BEATS

Now I've been wanting to see these guys live for a while, the laid-back pair have been stunning audiences everywhere with their beautiful melodies and now Brisbane will get another taste of WILLOW BEATS' magnificence and I'll get to attend. The pair have a unique style which I think will add to their live show when it come time for them to play out at The Rev on the second night of BigSound, I suggest going guys because they will be amazing.
