Live Review: LISTEN: JJ Doom 'GUV'NOR' (BadBadNotGood Version)

9 August 2013 | 6:51 pm | Lauren Payne

BadBadNotGood have taken JJ DOOM's track 'Gov'nor' and given it a bit of a twist.

In the lead up for this years Outside In festival, everybody has been buzzing about the exciting line-up set to shine on stage at this most tremendous event. One act that a lot of people are excited to see is BADBADNOTGOOD.

The boys of BADBADNOTGOOD have made big names for themselves by creating remixes that completely flip the script of the original idea of the track. Genre's have been thrown around with the act and one that seems to have stuck is jazz punk. Although they are most known for their electronic work, the jazz punk does come through with a bit of hip-hop thrown in as well.

Now we have a little treat for you all, BADBADNOTGOOD have taken a whack at flipping JJ DOOM's track 'Guv'nor', a track which is to appear on The Butter Version of his LP Key To The Kuffs out on August 20. The BADBADNOTGOOD mix definitely has bite, with the first sample sounding quite innocent and regular, the big crunch of bass most definitely takes you by surprise and you are suddenly thrust into a brooding bassline, paired with soft synths and hellish electronic hits.
