Live Review: LISTEN: Tyler Touche 'Heart In Motion'

9 July 2013 | 6:21 pm | Hannah Galvin

Brisbane producer Tyler Touche has just dropped his new single 'Heart In Motion' ahead of an EP release due later this year.

TYLER TOUCHE

It's pretty hard to believe that Brisbane producer TYLER TOUCHE is just a teenager. Upon listening to his material, you wouldn't expect to find a high school student's name taking ownership of such impressive production. Since leaving us with 'Baguette', he's been busy working on his forthcoming EP. Ahead of its release, check out his new track, 'Heart In Motion'!

A scraggly guitar kicks off the single, soon to be acquainted by nu-disco thanks to the almost nasal sounding synth gluing the two sounds together. Kind of similar to how Regurgitator's '! (Song Formerly Known As)' unfolds. From here on in, Tyler Touche's funky disco influence takes the reigns of the song, alongside female vocals.

Bold and daring, 'Heart In Motion' plays with a few quirky techniques, some as simple as pausing the instrumentation which adds quite a cheeky effect, others playing with textures like the robotic vocal toward the end of the track; reminiscent to Daft Punk circa 2001's Discovery. Predominantly though, it's made up of a collection of crystallised synths that are sharp and determined, vowing to make each and every one of its listeners dance themselves silly.

In total, it's a song that has been made out of passion and energy, wearing the retro funk of 1980s disco without the ugly leg warmers.

'Heart In Motion' is the first single from Tyler Touche's forthcoming Technicolor Symphony EP that is due for release later this year via Create/Control. You can grab the single HERE.
