BANG. Here you go. M.I.A is bringing the noize, literally on her brand new track. It’s aptly named, ‘Bring The Noize’, and it’s produced by Switch and Surkin, but we’ve already told you about it. What we’re here to talk about today, is the tracks accompanying video, which the good dudes over at Noisey just premiered.

So let’s get down to business. First off, topping her previous film clip efforts was always going to be a pretty tough ask, especially considering that a couple of her past videos were directed by the genius mind of Romain Gavras.

Dressed in white, the British rapper seems to be the leader of some kind of strange cult, and is consistently followed and surrounded by plenty of other people dressed in white. The cult members are inhaling strange fumes, standing still in a warehouse full of strobes, and basically being cultish. Whilst the rest of the clip is filled up with strange symbolic flashes, subliminal messages, M.I.A being a bad-arse and some general insane colouring.

Oh, that’s all before it turns into a massive rave.

It’s religion meets rave. And it’s a damn good almost 4 minute experience.

M.I.A.‘s fourth album, Matangi, is due out this fall on N.E.E.T./Interscope.

Words: Tom Hutchins

About:

Just a weird, socially awkward dude trying to get by. On the plus side he knows a lot about ramen, and you know, that’s pretty cool.
