Live Review: LISTEN: Phoenix 'Trying To Be Cool' (Anoraak Remix)
French producer Anoraak has successfully taken on Phoenix's 'Trying To Be Cool' with his brand new remix of the track.
Since hearing the swaying harmonies of PHOENIX's 'Trying To Be Cool' (from their latest LP, Bankrupt), an influx of remixes have poured over the Internet, twisting and reshaping this groove to their own style. One of these dudes who have tweaked the song is Paris-based producer ANORAAK.
Known for his use of sharp production and illustrative synths, the drenched glo-fi of Anoraak's music has definitely leaked into 'Trying To Be Cool'.
Through the use of maintaining the track's original structure, 'Trying To Be Cool' has now been exerted into two different beings, making it too easy to contrast the two versions, each in their own respective right.

All the sounds of the original track have been pushed out with a more electrified approach in Anoraak's remix. Not only is it ridden with gliding synths that take us back to an era before our time, the beat is doubled, making the entire listening experience a little different to what it had been with Phoenix prior. Popping in a vibrant, rich crimson, Anoraak has definitely made use of his talent in this one, evoking a desirable need to get our party on.
Only just uploaded to the French producer's Soundcloud, hopefully we can soon see the remix as a digital download.
