Canberra three piece SAFIA have been pretty lucky since forming in only the middle of 2012. They've filled the Triple J Unearthed slot for last year's Groovin' The Moo, have supported the likes of many great outfits such as The PresetsThe Aston ShuffleClubfeet and Catcall and have been able to release a bunch of singles and remixes.

To water their growing catalogue, they've recently given us their new single 'Listen To Soul, Listen To Blues'. This track was a very thoughtful process. Being a production group, they did things a little bit differently as the track was initially and completely written with just "a piano and pen and paper." When it came to the electronic value of the song, it seems as though it was included as an extra strength; not to mention the contextual element that keeps SAFIA within their renowned sonic framework. It's viewed in this way as the song had already inherited what it wished to deliver.

This thoughtfulness doesn't stop here though, as it is explored in both the title and lyricism of 'Listen To Soul, Listen To Blues'. It nurtures an emotional idea about the inability of discovering the true character of a person that you consider close to your heart.

Through the dreamy vocals accompanied by simplistic piano and a whirlwind of beats that is soon harpooned by a wave of dubstep, the contrasting elements combined deliver a soulful slow jam by the electronic trio.

'Listen To Soul, Listen To Blues' is available as a free digital download now via The A&R Department's Soundcloud.
