Live Review: CANT SAY LIVE MIX: Spook [FREE DOWNLOAD]

2 April 2013 | 1:16 pm | Hannah Galvin

If you missed out on Spook's set at our Melbourne club CANT SAY a few weeks back, we recorded it just for you and want you to download it for free!

SPOOK-SET

Hailing from Melbourne, SPOOK is a producer who has been on the scene for just over a year. Being one of our CANT SAY resident DJs, we're really lucky to catch a lot of his work, where his focus lies within the genres of Garage and UK funky.

Spook played CANT SAY on Friday, the 15th March alongside a bunch of our other resident DJs, as well as special guest headliners TwinsyMarquee Moon and Kolors.

Playing a really dark and exciting mix, we recorded Spook's set just for you guys.

Before kicking off, we're informed of what is to come of the set; that being full of UK bass, UK garage and a more broad grasp of bass.

Entering with a rung out female vocal, the mix really starts with textural experimentation. About one minute into the recording, Spook plays with trembling bass that wobbles next to mysterious vocals and a repetitive sample. This is soon enhanced with a synth overlaying the track.

More and more samples enter and exit, all engaging with different moods, which really shifts around the energy of this 55 minute set.

Think of this when listening to certain parts, such as the dull synth against the jivey sample that jumps around in the background at the 33 minute mark compared to the inclusion of Duke Dumont's 'The Giver' at the 42 minute mark.

You can grab this set as a free digital download above.
