As part of Diplo and Shane McCauley's series 'Blow Your Head', the two go over to New York to piece a documentary on music extraordinary Drop The Lime

Drop The Lime Blow Your Head

First it was 3BallMTY, then it was MikeQ before Rusty Lazer gained a feature. So who was to take the spotlight for BLOW YOUR HEAD's fourth episode? New York City's DROP THE LIME

Blow Your Head is a visual series that goes on a global quest to find some of the dance and house music scene's greatest talent. Strung together by Diplo and Shane McCauley as a part of Potato Will Eat You (the collective consisting of DiploA-Trak and Skrillex) they collate interview snippets, performance clips and visuals of the artists' towns of residence.

Their latest episode features a short documentary on New York underground artist Luca Venezia. Having previously used the moniker Curses!, we now know Venezia through his producer name DROP THE LIME. Through this short documentary style clip, we're welcomed to interrogate Venezia's music vision as he tells us about his career as both a producer and the founder of record label Trouble and Bass.

Venezia explains the boom of dance music and how it quickly went from underground to mainstream. It was due to this that Trouble and Bass were to work in a bigger sonic environment. Not only did they promote house and dance, they now explore all different genres of music.

We also find out that Venezia is a part of many other labels, such as Hiss which focuses on straight up Rock'n'Roll. Music aside, Venezia tells us about the influence of his physical appearance and his love for New York City, which allows us an insight into who he is on a more personal level.

You may start watching this video as someone who has only heard the music of Luca Venezia. Perhaps you've never even heard of the underground artist. But once you come out of it, you'll see how the Blow Your Head dudes have skilfully put this video together as you gain a pretty good understanding of both Venezia and the culture he so passionately speaks about.

Blow Your Head also launched as a photo zine series last year with Mad Decent. More about that HERE.
