IGGY AND THE STOOGES have confirmed that their new album Ready to Die will will be released on April 26th, after their upcoming national tour of Australia this year.

It marks the first time the proto punk band has reunited for a full album of all-new material since the cult Raw Power (1973) and god, we are stoked to hear what these funky decrepit devils have in store. Mixed by ED CHERNEY, it is claimed to sound like the "old-time Stooges....raw". Good.. just what quality rock and roll should be - a sweaty sonic tonic of shuddering amps, electricity and chemistry that'll make you want to fight and fuck at the same time, maybe on a beer stained shag rag.

The last time we heard from THE STOOGES, frontman IGGY POP was in his crooning Après (2012), which saw the 'White trash Shakespeare' take a turn, paying homage to EDITH PIAF and the like. Not to mention his input in a song with KESHA (seemingly being about cockroach sex) as well as a stint in a pirate album curated by JOHNNY DEPP - a brazen sea chanty called 'Asshole Rules the Navy'.

Joining the irrepressible IGGY POP on this offering are guitarist JAMES WILLIAMSON, drummer SCOTT ROCK 'ACTION' ASHETON and MIKE WATT filling in for the late RON ASHETON on bass.

"The new album's ‘Burn’ and ‘Sex & Money’ pair sublimely blunt and self-explanatory subject matter with back alley razor-blade guitars and a troglodytic rhythmic stomp as intensely single-minded as Iggy's lyrical statements of intent. The title track that mixes a signature Iggy Pop mission statement of angry desperation with guitar pyrotechnics that recall those halcyon opening salvos of ‘Search & Destroy’."

“My motivation in making any record with the group at this point is no longer personal,” says POP. “It’s just a pig-headed fucking thing I have that a real fucking group when they’re an older group they also make fucking records. They don’t just go and twiddle around on stage to make a bunch of fucking money.”
