Winter is coming, and what band is guaranteed to be on your winter playlist? THE NATIONAL. Yeah I thought so.

THE NATIONAL have become a group of geniuses when it comes to the subject of dark, emotional music. With Matt Berninger’s deep vocals some songs can really tear at your heart strings. Now that the Brooklyn band have announced their new album entitled Trouble Will Find Me, those strings may be tugged just a bit more.

Most fans will remember THE NATIONAL’s previous record High Violet that was released back in 2010, Berninger has told UNCUT magazine that the new tracks that made it onto the new album are more “immediate and visceral” than High Violet (if you know what that means).

Trouble Will Find Me has been recorded in the band’s hometown of NYC at Clubhouse Rhinebeck by THE NATIONAL themselves. It was mixed by the great Craig Silvey who has previously worked with ARCADE FIRE, THE HORRORS and FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE, with additional help from Peter Katis and Marcus Paquin.

The band have said that this album has tracks that were complicated and simple to record, but to make that sound a bit clearer, the boys have said that the tracks were complex, but their chemistry in the studio made everything that much simpler.

In addition to all this, THE NATIONAL have a documentary to present to us all as well. The documentary named Mistaken For Stranger’s after their successful track, was recorded by Matt Beninger’s younger brother Tom.

The film is premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 17, and is a mix of brotherly foolishness and artistic musicians all bonding together whilst touring. Trouble Will Find Me will be released on May 17 through 4AD/Remote Control and should be a stellar record.
