YOUNG DREAMS are living proof that the Norway has bands from the country do have a lot more to offer than just black metal.

Considering how the last Norwegian export of note was probably Dimmu Borgir, YOUNG DREAMS are living proof that the nation’s got a lot more to offer than just black metal. Synthesising elements from bands all the cool kids are listening to, this self-proclaimed symphonic trance pop collective has alchemised sonic gold.

‘Fog of War’ is the first taste we get off their upcoming debut Between Places, dropping on the 1st of March. This video was filmed on the top of a building in their hometown, this song has everything from Vampire Weekend ‘aahs’ to Major Lazer synths with a JT ‘My Love’ rhythmic pulse. Straddling the line between electronica and indie can go horrifically wrong (dubstep + acoustic tracks, barf), but these chaps have struck a perfect balance between lo-fi and digital sounds without it sounding too forced.

The second bite on the menu is ‘First Days of Something’, a tasty and fresh offering of sound. Think Two Door Cinema Club’s guitars meets a Yeasayer soundscape, and you’re heading on the right path. Better yet, just hit play! Frontman Chris Holmes weaves a tale of sunshine, hope and romance, showing how these guys know how to cover all the bases they need.

Ending with soaring vocals and symphonic strings, YOUNG DREAMS have definitely got the genre mesh down to a tee.

Fresh and hopeful as their namesake, these lads churn out tunes perfect for the sunny days we have ahead.
