After publishing a very cryptic tweet that read “NYT classifieds...” on 4th February, readers of the New York Times would later that day find the album title and release date to VAMPIRE WEEKEND's third full length record!

Simply reading, “MODERN VAMPIRES OF THE CITY MAY 7, 2013”, fans of the very sneaky New York outfit finally had the information they'd been beckoning for in a physical print format!

After releasing this very important piece of info, Vampire Weekend soon after announced even more with a press release, as it contained tour dates, Modern Vampires Of The City's tracklisting and official album artwork.

Judging by the large mass of people that made up the Vampire Weekend crowd at this year's Big Day Out, it was clear that just being in the same vicinity as the boys was exciting enough.

Now with the confirmation of the new album all ready to go, fans from around the world have found solace as it's been a long time coming since their 2010 sophomore release Contra!

Vampire Weekend's name can be found on this year's mammoth lineup for Coachella, as well as Texas' super rad festival SXSW. They'll also be playing a string of US shows throughout April and May.

As Australians, that information is more of a stab in the heart rather than something to be excited about; but take it as good news - the dudes will be releasing an album this year and are touring it. Could this mean an upcoming Australian tour for later 2013? Fingers crossed!
