Live Review: WATCH: Major Lazer 'Jah No Partial' (Feat Flux Pavilion)

17 December 2012 | 4:30 pm | Tom Hutchins

Featuring the talents of Diplo and Flux Pavilion as well as Reggae legend, Johnny Osborne. The new Major Lazer track – ‘Jah No Partial' is freaking great.

Okay, so this song has been getting a whole heap of love from those dudes who seem to tell us exactly what to like and what not to (we’re talking about Triple J, of course). And it’s no surprise as to why that’s the case – it’s freaking great.

But seriously, what’s not to love? Not only is it a track that features both the producing talents of DIPLO and FLUX PAVILION – it also has some seriously perfect vocal samples provided by Reggae legend, Johnny Osborne. Figured it out yet? Yes, of course we’re talking about MAJOR LAZER’s brand new track – ‘Jah No Partial’.

This heavyweight of talent has created an unbelievably massive dance track once again, and it’s one that completely juxtaposes their last single ‘Get Free’. Filled with plenty of the build up and drops you know and love them for, Major Lazer are back to their Moombahton and Reggae infused best. And, although this track has been berating the airwaves/DJ sets as of recently, its accompanying clip has only just been released – and to say it’s a high energy clip would be a great understatement.

It’s a tour video with a difference… It’s absolutely mental. Following Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire through their live sets at the Philadelphia Mad Decent Block Party, the Notting Hill Carnival in London and the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium – the clip truly shows what it’s like to be at a ML show. Diplo rips his shirt off, dives into a sea of crazed punters and crowd surfs in a bubble – whilst his partners in crime are busy getting pumping up the enormous crowds they pull. Throw in some booty shaking dancers and Reggae themed flags and you have yourself a typical night out with the biggest production team going around at the moment.

We really hope that you managed to catch them if you attended the most recent Stereosonic festival dates and we hope even more that their sets were any where near as intense as the ones shown in this clip.

Now that Major Lazer have left the country, we can only look forward to their sophomore album - Major Lazer Frees The Universe. Which is due for release February 19 2013, through Downtown Records.
