Live Review: LISTEN: TEED 'Your Love' (Waze & Odyssey Remix)

18 October 2012 | 9:00 am | Lauren Payne

DJs Waze & Odyssey give us a totally enormous remix of TEED's track 'Your Love'.

With his debut album Trouble out now, Orlando Higginbottom, better known as TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS (TEED), is blowing audiences away with his intricate electronic melodies, glitter cannons, and some dancing dinosaurs.

The BBC has said that TEED play with a certain “relaxed freedom of which he flits between styles” making him one of the most unique acts on today’s electronic scene.

TEED released the video to his single ‘Your Love’ and Higginbottom's “relaxed freedom” is presented in the most well, relaxed way through the tracks duration. Opening with a light beat, ‘Your Love’ fades in slowly only to fade out quickly when Higginbottom’s vocals arrive. The synths are low and hushed as he almost speaks over them until the beat suddenly returns in the chorus which consists of the simple lyric of “Your love”.

The climax is built up again during another stint of vocals mid-way through the track, and soon enough the beat is clearer and the synths slide their way across the track. ‘Your Love’ has an early 90’s feel to it, think Daft Punk’s ‘One More Time’, but don’t let that defer you from this great track.

‘Your Love’ will be released on October 29 with remixes accompanying the single, such as this lovely little track from DJs Waze & Odyssey. With a boppy intro, Waze & Odyssey have brought the lyrics straight into the track with that signature build up, a crash to quiet, and then another build up, although this time instrumental. The synths now fly light technicolour butterflies through ‘Your Love’ with some controlled sections here and there. At only two and a half minutes, Waze & Odyssey have pulled off a lively remix of the track whilst keeping it short and sweet.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs will be playing Falls Festival and Southbound with sideshows in Brisbane and Melbourne whilst the world transitions from 2012 to 2013. The dance guru will be supported by Melbourne fresh meat City Calm Down, but keep an eye out for more remixes so you can prepare yourself for the takeover of Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs!
