Live Review: LISTEN: Flight Tonight ‘Edits EP’

ADRIAN RAFTER aka FLIGHT TONIGHT continues to expand his repertoire. Branching from his acclaimed self-titled EP housing this sort of post-dubstep, UK bass, ambient RnB vibe, RAFTER’S newest collection of tunes are a gesture towards his love of club music and post-garage beats.
Simple A and B sides, the EP is comprised of ‘Stay Up’ and ‘Love Me No More,’ two tunes differing in tone and style dramatically.
‘Stay Up’ is something I’d imagine on some 90’s porn film (or maybe I was just in a weird headspace when I wrote this.) Gone are the days where sexual innuendo’s are placed cryptically and (key phrase) subtly and in a song. In this 21st century, we can happily salute good bye to “sky rockets in flight, afternoon delight” and welcome “stay up, be ready when you see my clothes hit the floor” into the ears of millions worldwide. Jokes aside however, the track is really well produced, and mellow as fuck.

‘Love Me No More’ is radical. The beat is so, so dance inducing; this whole RnB club music thing FLIGHT TONIGHT has going down is just a hundred different shades of awesome. ‘Edit’s EP’ is a showcase of the direction in which FLIGHT TONIGHT will be headed early 2013. If his future tracks are as excellent as these two, we can expect great things from the Melbourne producer.
