Live Review: LISTEN: Crystal Castles 'Wrath of God'

CRYSTAL CASTLES have just released the second single off their forthcoming album III. The release date for the experimental/electronica duo’s third album has been revealed, set to drop in early November through Casablanca/Fiction/Universal Republic.

Ditching their usual keyboard and synths, producer and band member Ethan Kath decided to adopt a strictly “no computers” rule and instead record everything straight onto tape. CRYSTAL CASTLES state that they wanted the upcoming album to sound like a “completely different and new experience.”

The second single to be released off III ‘Wrath of God’ is identifiable as a CRYSTAL CASTLES production, serrated, with heavy, throbbing electronic beats. Wrath of God has a more ambient feel than the earlier released track, ‘Plague,’ yet still encompasses an underlying tone of urgency. Vocalist Alice Glass’ distinct voice is drowned out by the chaotic sounds, but all with a perfect balance, true to the duo’s style.
