The new single from Jessie Ware, 'Night Light', is like Florence Welsh’s voice crossed with The XX and with a video evoking the best bits of Lady Gaga.

The British electronic soul diva JESSIE WARE is certainly making quite the splash and impact with her beautifully crafted and well presented debut album Devotion.

The new single 'Night Light' is like Florence Welsh’s voice crossed with The XX and with a video evoking the best bits of Lady Gaga. The video is the wonderful work of artful director Chris Sweeney, whose work has become quite the favourite to many bands in the ever growing English indie music scene. His work is always wonderfully shot and never fails to draw the viewer even deeper into the song he is representing, always adding another dimension to already powerful songs.

This video certainly lives up to his name by adding a striking visual representation to the music and words that the soulstress has crafted, We open on a shot of JESSIE WARE surrounded by women with their backs to the floor and their legs in the air creating a cage around the her. The video smoothly moves to a close up of the singer and then to a nothing but beautiful shot of Jessie with her actual boyfriend in a hugging embrace that makes the viewer feel vulnerable but safe at the same time.

The whole video is shot in a perfectly lit black and white setting and does a perfect job at conveying the feeling of being exposed and vulnerable and yet at the same time still pushes the feeling of protection and safety with the strong imagery that comes to life with the chorus. Throughout the video contemporary dance is a key element to bringing the music to life and conveying the emotion of the song, two dancers sway back and forth covered in black cloth in a restrained and very sensual movement to the beat that has you memorized and captured.

Who said that contemporary pop can’t still be beautiful and smooth? This video is a great example of less is more even if it does somewhat conform to the modern pop trends of music videos of late. It is none the less gorgeously executed and a dream to watch. It surely is going to draw some attention and gain the rising diva new fans.
