Live Review: LISTEN: City Riots 'Wait For You' (Luke Million Remix)

19 September 2012 | 1:30 pm | Lauren Payne

City Riots' new album will be released on October 26 and the first taste of the album is their single ‘Wait For You’ with a remix from Luke Million

They’ve toured with the SMASHING PUMPKINS, MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS and OPERATOR PLEASE and now CITY RIOTS the four piece from Adelaide, the city of churches, are ready to release their debut LP. CITY RIOTS’ album Sea of Bright Lights will be released on October 26 and the first taste of the album is their single ‘Wait For You’.

‘Wait For You' hit ‘the big time’ though heaps of airplay on Triple J and honestly, who wouldn’t keep playing this track? With a lead singer Ricky Kradolfer’s light vocals hovering over some jangly guitars and reverb madness producing a dreamy sound that just makes CITY RIOTS ooze coolness. But of course that’s not all, a remix of ‘Wait for you’ has been devised by LUKE MILLION.

Adding in a few synths and an electronic beat to the already wistful track, LUKE MILLION has turned ‘Wait For You’ into five minutes of dance/disco heaven. Opening the track with a beat empahises Kradolfer’s vocals when they burst into the track accompanied by synths galore. The verses focus on the lyrics and only involves the beat and a light synth here and there. The chorus is of course the pinnacle of the track. More synths are brought in blending together with Ricky Kradolfer’s vocals and creating a dream state that you’d be happy to stay in for a few hours.

LUKE MILLION has created a track that has kept the original feel of ‘Wait for You’ and with remixes these days, that’s a tough job. I tip my hat to LUKE MILLION and of course CITY RIOTS for making a brilliant original track that was able to be remixed so brilliantly. LUKE MILLION’s ‘Wait For You’ is best listened to whilst on a long road trip and so if you’re going anywhere anytime soon, put it on your playlist and your drive shall be as smooth as vanilla yogurt.
