The Jagermeister Independent Music Award Nominess have been announced. Get our sneakers preview!

Its that time of year again. Ahead of the award ceremony later this year, Jagermeister have unveiled their Independent Music Award Nominess for 2012.

In what has been another stellar year for independent music, Jagermesiter have somehow managed to whittle down Australia's best into categories of just 5 artists, and doesn't it make for interesting reading...

Following the theme of 5, we here at PS HQ have decided to write up our own lists of deserving artists at this years event. This is not to pressure Jager into any rash decisions, just something to bear in mind.

DZ DEATHRAYS

This highly acclaimed duo really found their feet with Bloodstreams, which we can safely say blew everyone's mind-hole. The pair lived up to the hype generated by NME and its associates and with twin nominations for Best Independent and Best Hard Rock or Punk Albums, expect DZ to walk away with some silverware.

CHET FAKER

Australia's answer to JAMES BLAKE impressed with EP 'Thinking In Textures' and finds himself up for a slew of awards at this years event, including Best Artist, Breakthrough Artist, Best Single, Best Dance Album and Best Dance Single. Next stop-world domination!

SASKWATCH

Melbourne new-comers SASKWATCH created some serious buzz with their debut 'Leave It All Behind', thanks in part to some outstanding covers of Little Red's 'Coca Cola' and Kylie and Robbie's 'Kids' . One problem though, how do you divide one award between 9 people?

THE JEZABELS

The name on everyone's lips at this year's event, THE JEZABELS will be on the hunt for two major gongs including Best Independent Artist and Best Independent Album. With healthy challenges from CHET FAKER and BALL PARK MUSIC, this could go down to the wire. My money's on these guys.

TEMPER TRAP

Our favourite Aussie expatriates only have their fingers in one pie this time round, but I'm sure they'd rather walk away with Best Indepedent Album than nothing at all. The self-titled sophomore release didn't cause quite the same seismic shock-waves as its predecessor 'Conditions', but I wouldn't be writing them off just yet.
