Gung Ho have released the video to accompany their single ‘Side By Side’. It’s all about soft focus, kaleidoscopic lenses and drowsy vocals.

Brisbane duo GUNG HO have released their debut music video to accompany chilled indie pop track ‘Side By Side’. It’s all about soft focus, kaleidoscopic lenses and the drowsy vocals.

The band members are recalling memories of a beautiful girl, who we follow throughout the track, dancing around in a bindi, trying to sleep (stalker cam), throwing party poppers. She never speaks, but smiles and laughs, and the nostalgic duo sing: “I can’t hold onto you”.

Surf rock meets TAME IMPALA meets TALKING HEADS in this clip with a romantic twist- exotic bindi girl is just a memory. The sweet harmonies and polished sound makes for perfect summer afternoon listening. We see no instruments in the clip but a colourful blend of places and faces. ‘Side By Side’ is a strong melody about longing for the past and replaying memories over and over - “Like a photo in a frame, it’s never gonna change.”

It’s a story hard to follow, but that’s okay because it’s meant to be that way – not all who wonder are lost.

GUNG HO are heading to Byron’s SUNDAY SAFARI along with the likes of FLUME and MILLIONS, Sunday September 16. Moshtix.com.au for tickets.
