Live Review: LISTEN: Dillon Francis 'Diplo & Friends Radio 1 Mixtape'

6 July 2012 | 10:30 am | Tom Hutchins

Created for the Diplo & Friends radio show on BBC Radio 1, the latest Dillon Francis mix has enough summery tunes to kill a small child.

So this is one to help you get through the last couple of working days this week. Mainly because there are so many beats in the new DILLON FRANCIS mix, you may just drown.

Created for the acclaimed Diplo & Friends radio show on BBC Radio 1 in the UK, this two hour mix features 43 tracks and enough summery tunes to kill a small child. The LA producer is not only one of the youngest going around, but also one of the most in demand DJs travelling along the world, and this talent is demonstrated here. He's been penned as a real innovator in the Moombahton scene (which is currently getting smashed in every club at the moment), as well as having Diplo's 'favourite haircut ever' - he's even just been announced on the massive Stereosonic lineup for 2012.

The mix itself features a heap of the aforementioned Moombahton, before launching into some seriously dark Nu-Disco as well as some Indie-Dance tunes. And with acts such as Phoenix, Classixx, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Wolfgang Gartner, The 2 Bears and The Knocks sharing some time with some Francis remixes and originals - it's definitely one of the smartest and well put together sets we've come across. Expect to hear and see much of the same when he hits our shores later in the year, you'd be pretty stupid to miss it.

Basically, it'll pick you up if your job is getting you down. And then it'll probably make you lose that job for having an electronic music related seizure in the office.
