Live Review: LISTEN: Com Truise 'Open'

1 July 2012 | 9:00 am | Staff Writer

Com Truise is like a combination of Joy Division and Cocteau Twins. That's some electronic goodness there.

When the inevitable Blade Runner sequel/prequel/what-the-fuck-ever is cleared for production in the next three or so years, Ridley Scott will be running straight to Jersey producer COM TRUISE, aka Seth Haley, to man the soundtrack.

(That is, if the world is just and right.) Don’t believe me? Scope out the latest Com Truise release, OpenHaley’s finally found what he’s been looking for in his past releases and boy, does it sound good. It’s a little bit Cocteau Twins and a little bit Joy Division, but never strays from being decidedly modern, with a sound that’s elegantly faded, blurred and rubbery.

Open also bodes well for his upcoming release, In Decay, which will boast 13—well, twelve, now—tracks that were recorded before Haley came good; some of which are never-before-heard.

Can’t hardly wait.
