Live Review: WATCH: Best Coast 'The Only Place'

22 June 2012 | 1:30 pm | Staff Writer

Best Coast (aka Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno) have just released a clip for 'The Only Place' and it's the right amount of “summer.”

The BEST COAST partnership between Bethany Cosentino and Bob Bruno is just the right amount of “Summer”.

The California proud, indie outfit have risen to new heights. Releasing a maturer sound to that of their previous album, Crazy For You, it is fantastic to see Best Coast keeping their passion alive in The Only Place (as reviewed HERE). The focus on brokenhearted-ness paired with their pining for the Californian coast creates an exceptionally-planned second installment to their discography.

Featuring some rather obscure notions, Best Coast’s most recent video for their album-titled track, 'The Only Place' sets out to define  who they are as a group. Opening with an inexplicable abundance of finished drinks, messy beds and spray paint, this then pans onto a poster shot of the promo poster for the album. Alongside this poster, has been scrawled “BEST COAST WAS HERE,” giving us the main gist of the video. As the video progresses, we see the duo travel to different places, experiencing and witnessing some very destructive habits. Again, they ensure that everyone knows “BEST COAST WAS HERE”.

Bikes, firecrackers, smashed guitars, pools, California flags and a whole ton of spray paint, condiments and shaving cream inspires Best Coast to have released probably one of their best videos to date.
