CANT SAY featuring Sampology, DJ Prequel, Play

8 May 2012 | 1:30 pm | Staff Writer

With some of Australia's biggest party starters, make sure you get down to Banana Alley this Friday for unforgettable times at CANT SAY!

Ain't no party like a CANT SAY Party...

SAMPOLOGY is no ordinary turntablist. His legendary “Super Visual” series has earned him an undeniable reputation as Australia's leading AVDJ, touring with a number of festivals including Big Day Out, Falls Festival, Good Vibrations, Southbound, Parklife, Sydney Festival, Perth International Arts Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and his hometown's Brisbane Festival, and Valley Fiesta.

He's no stranger to international touring either, previously featured as the AVDJ in the internationally acclaimed Tom Tom Crew which played sold out seasons in 2009 at the New Victory Theatre, Manhattan, Underbelly London and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2010, he took his second instalment in the AVDJ series, the “Super Visual Smackdown”, overseas for a handful of headline performances, closing the AV stage at the Big Chill Festival, as well as a number of headline sideshows and showcases in the UK and Berlin.

Following a stellar year of festivals and club shows in Australia, (Big Day Out national tour) New Zealand, (Rhythm & Vines) and USA (SXSW and sideshows in New York and LA), Sampology tops the year off nicely with a brand new single "Hell On Wheels" featuring Kween G, released in November.

On the decks you have SAMPOLOGY who has turned spinning records into an art form as he combines sound and vision to create a multimedia sensation.

And he's here for one night only...

DJ PREQUEL as we know him, is quite simply the result of a record buying addiction, a fear of hairdressers and a secret love affair between Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro.

This culmination of elements turned out to be a good thing for those of us with ears, as PREQUEL entertains the creatures of the night all over Melbourne, seamlessly shifting between funk, soul and hip-hop jams with a level of ease that most of us haven’t even garnered for simple tasks like brushing our teeth.

Having hit the decks at the likes of Splendour in the Grass, Parklife, and Big Day Out, and after supporting De La Soul, MF DOOM, Gilles Peterson, and OFWGKTA, PREQUEL continues to champion his unique blend of rare gems and original production that always leaves those lucky enough to be within earshot wanting more.

Despite all his success, PREQUEL is still fearful of hairdressers and any scissor-like objects.

From the fast moving to the slow grooving, PLAY has distinguished himself to be one of Melbourne's premier party starters.

With residencies throughout Melbourne's leading night spots and headlining numerous guest spots, PLAY is no stranger to the disco. Sharing the bill alongside acts such as: Diplo, Starslinger, Flume, The Aston Shuffle, Light Year, Flight Facilities, AJAX, Swick + more, there is a clear indication of his level of calibre.

With his unique approaches to mix and match everything from hip-hop, rock, pop, and electronic into one methodical set, PLAY has proved himself to be a true artist.

With supports from the CANT SAY army, it should be clear where you are headed this Friday...Where's that, you ask?
