Live Review: LISTEN: Sigur Ros 'Kvistur'

26 April 2012 | 10:30 am | Staff Writer

With their hiatus officially over, Sigur Ros have released 'Kvistur', an electronic soundscape which departs from their sound.

Just in case you didn't know, SIGUR ROS are officially off their 2008 hiatus, announcing world tours and releasing an album, Valtari, on May 29 this year. Great news for everyone, because scientists have proven that Sigur Rós are literally impossible to dislike.

'Kvistur' is their latest release and, while it won't be on the album, it shows the shift in direction of their sound that will take place on Valtari, departing from soothing indie epics to focus on electronic sounds, far from dance music.

Eerie, brooding, yet strangely relaxing and beautiful, 'Kvistur' evokes landscapes painted by sounds. Listen to it below.
