Live Review: FEATURE ARTIST: The Laurels

28 March 2012 | 11:00 am | Staff Writer

Four-piece The Laurels have played with the likes of Tame Impala and Wooden Shjips, and are one of the top acts in Sydney, nay Australia.

Consisting of Piers Cornelius (vocals, guitar), Luke O'Farrell (vocals, guitar, loop sampler), Kate Wilson (drums), and Conor Hannan (bass), THE LAURELS are one of the top acts in Sydney -- actually, make that all of Australia -- and they have been for quite some time now. Having played with the likes of The Black Angels, Swervedriver, Tame Impala, and more recently Wooden Shjips, their ultra-lush breed of shoegaze has been blowing the minds of many an audience for the best half of the last decade.

Releasing their sophomore EP in 2011, Mesozoic is euphoric, to say the least. Each beautifully-crafted layer weaves its way into your subconscious, and connects with your soul on an entirely new level. If you've witnessed the onslaught that is The Laurels's live show then you will know exactly what I mean when I say they are utterly immaculate...and if you haven’t, it’s about time you treat yourself.
