Live Review: LISTEN: The Shins 'Simple Song'

THE SHINS have released a new track to whet our appetites for their upcoming album Port of Morrow. Ever since Natalie Portman said in Garden State "You gotta hear this one song — it’ll change your life; I swear" about their track 'New Slang', THE SHINS have become indie darlings and have released three killer albums featuring some of the best pop music out there. It's been nearly five years since THE SHINS released Wincing The Night Away back in 2007 so they're definitely due for something new.

'Simple Song' is the first preview of their new album. It's a pretty inoffensive song. It definitely sounds like THE SHINS. It's definitely nothing new. It's hard to pick exactly what other THE SHINS song it sounds like but it is very, very familiar. Although 'Simple Song' is a little disappointing and unexciting, there may still be hope for the rest of the album.
