TOO FRESH is about cassette tapes and mock radio shows, it's about being teenagers at early 90's raves, it's about explaining to people what the fuck techno was, what the fuck a rave was, it's about hip hop and New Jack Swing and realizing there was more to music than rock and pop, it's about editing radio shows on a tape deck, it's about hearing 'The Power' by Snap for the first time, it's about wagging school to buy records, it's about falling asleep in the band rooms of their Dads gigs, it’s about acid jazz, DJ Shadow, trip hop, big beat, jungle, drum and bass, breakdancing (at family dinners), DJing, clubs, raves, festivals, main rooms, side rooms, bars, breakbeat, garage, house, reggae, techno, funk and finally it's about putting it all back into their own music.

TOO FRESH: taking it back to where it all began for it all comes back again.

There’s a lot about Melbourne's ANIMAUX that’s hard to put your finger on. Sure, they’re young, but rest assured, this is no ordinary teeny-bopper band. Sure, in this day and age of synth and autotune they have a bigger brass section than most bands, but that doesn’t mean they won’t get you up and moshing.

Perhaps the greatest strength of this septet is the fact that they have managed to cultivate a truly distinct sound. If jazz and pop had a lovechild, got divorced, remarried funk and soul, and then all raised said lovechild together, ANIMAUX would surely be the end result. These kids are pure class.

Supports from our bro's GLASS MIRRORS, TRANTER and MAT CANT holding down the late set, it's a line up that guaranteed get you from 6 to midnight... if you know what we mean!
