Demand for The Last Dinner Party’s first-ever Australian tour has been feverish, and tour promoters Secret Sounds have announced venue upgrades to meet fan excitement.

The venue upgrade announcement arrived just hours after general admission tickets went on sale and a day after the pre-sale opened. Secret Sounds stated that demand for the tour had been so great that tickets were exhausted within minutes of the general sale opening.

The fast-rising UK band were initially booked to perform at this year’s Splendour In The Grass festival, but that was cancelled just weeks after being announced.

The Last Dinner Party were set to perform three East Coast shows at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall, Melbourne’s Forum, and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre.

Now, they’ll be playing at Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Monday, 22 July, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Tuesday, 23 July, and co-headline Brisbane’s Riverstage with American indie-pop band TV Girl on Saturday, 20 July. Aussie Tia Gostelow will open the Melbourne and Sydney shows.

Meanwhile, TV Girl’s upcoming Australian dates have also been upgraded. The band will play at Festival Hall on Tuesday, 16 July, and Hordern Pavilion on Friday, 19 July.

Sydney-based fans can purchase tickets to the upgraded Hordern Pavilion shows now, while additional tickets for the Melbourne and Brisbane dates go on sale at 10 am AEST on Tuesday, 23 April, via the Secret Sounds website. Tickets that have already been purchased will be honoured for the new venues.

The tour comes in support of The Last Dinner Party’s debut album, Prelude To Ecstasy, which arrived back in February to widespread critical acclaim. The band grew immensely in popularity quickly after releasing the music video for their quirky, piano-led debut single, Nothing Matters, a year ago.

The Last Dinner Party’s debut Australian tour is also special thanks to bassist Georgia Davies’ relationship with Australia—she was born and raised in Sydney before moving to the UK to study literature and eventually join one of the world’s hottest new bands.

Davies previously told Waxx Lyrical about her dream to play in Australia: “I’ve been manifesting it….. To do a hometown show in Sydney is my absolute life goal! The Metro, the Enmore, all my old haunts.”

On Instagram, The Last Dinner Party described the tour as “Georgia’s homecoming tour” and wrote that they’re “not here to fuck spiders.” They added, “For the very first time, the carnage is coming down under. Georgia hasn’t been home in three years, so this is very special.”
