There aren’t many times when Tasmania gets something rad before the rest of Australia, but with Hobart’s Mona Foma festival being the first stop for Brooklyn’s finest, The Dirty Projectors, they’ve finally got something to gloat about.
The visionary five-piece are also playing Melbourne’s Sugar Mountain festival and Sydney Festival on this tour supporting Swing Low Magellan, their most cohesive and clean-cut record yet.

Their previous album Bitte Orca, which introduced a lot of people to the band’s intricate and surprising melodies and beautiful harmonies, was an indie favourite of 2010 and finished high on a lot of end of year lists. Anyone lucky enough to be heading to these festival appearances is in for a real treat.
No word on headline shows yet, but as someone from Brisbane I… Oh please oh please oh please.
