Red Bull Music Festival will land in Melbourne for the first time this October
Red Bull Music Festival will be headed to Melbourne this October 15-20. The live music establishment has laid its roots in various locations across the globe, but this is the first time the event will be headed to Australia.
The week will see a variety of events, workshops and talks that will celebrate both new and established artists. Taking to nine venues across six days, there’s something for everyone in there.
On the hip-hop side of things, they’ve nabbed Sampa The Great to perform at The Forum, who will be armed with her new record The Return at that point.
Baker Boy, Jesswar, Genesis Owusu, Dallas Woods and more front the Aussie aspect of the hip-hop lineup. They’ll be joined by a huge array of international acts like New Zealand’s JessB, Thandiswa Mazwai of South Africa, US rapper Joey Purp and more.
On the electronic side of things, there’s going to be a thumping return of Red Bull‘s 1800-DOOF, which will see four of Melbourne’s most trusted party crews programming four different venues.
Crown Ruler will be taking over the Gasometer with Detroit techno legend Terrence Dixon, London’s Funkineven and Amsterdam’s Ruby Savage.
Animals Dancing are taking over 24 Moons, bringing over Canada’s Hashman Deejay and London’s John T. Gast.
Head to Glamorama to see Novel programming the night. They’ve enlisted Chicago deep house pioneer Chez Damier and Paris’ DJ Deep for this one.
And finally, LEFAG will take to 229 Queensberry St with Sweden’s Dinamarca and New Orleans’ Leonce.
Trusted locals DJ JNETT, Otologic, Toni Yotzi and more will be joining the party too.
