Chase Zera gives us a tour of her home studio where her new single 'Mess' came to be

A little while back, we premiered the debut single from Sydney singer/songwriter/producer/ultimate slashie CHASE ZERA. The cut was a confidence piece of electro-pop, showcasing Zera's ability to translate her taste into a powerful piece of dance music.

She today returns with her second single, 'Mess', and this one sees her taking a bit of a different approach. Opting for vulnerability over danceability, she bears her heart on her sleeve on this track, using the lyrics to detail an unwanted love.

It's broody, danceable pop at its best, and showcases a totally new side to Zera, her vocals and her songwriting. We spoke with her not too long ago, and we asked about the track and how it differs from 'Clovers'. She said "I like ‘Mess’ because it’s one of those songs that I knew exactly what I wanted to say and it all came out in about two hours. Some songs, you sit down, come up with an idea and it takes a few months to finish it. This was that one that worked so naturally. It’s really special, but when it’s that special and emotional it’s hard to think that people are going to hear that."

With that in mind, at the start of the week, she gave us a lil tour of her home studio on the Northern Beaches where the inklings of 'Mess' and 'Clovers' came to be. Take a peek at the photos below.
