With PS13 right around the corner, we touch base with Trench Records
With our thirteenth birthday bash as part of Vivid Sydney coming up around the corner on Saturday, June 15, we're touching base with the artists on the lineup to see where they're at, what they'll be bringing to the party and some advice they'd give to their thirteen year old selves.
It's been a little bit now since Nick Luke AKA Moonbase launched his label, Trench Records, and we're stoked to have them on the lineup to help kick off the festivities.
With a roster boasting the likes of Moonbase himself, Tobacco Rat, Herzeloyde, Miss Blanks, Akouo and more, the label has a strong focus on giving a platform to artists to wholeheartedly carry out their creative vision. With the label head being a musician himself, he's injected his experiences into the label's operations, allowing for an artist-friendly environment with creativity being the focus.

We caught up with Nick to see where the label's at, what's in store for us and what they'll be spinning at our birthday come june. Take a read below.
It’s been a while since you guys kicked off now. What have been some of your highlights as a label?
One definite highlight for us has to be seeing our artists grow and flourish over the years. From Miss Blanks to Tobacco Rat to Herzeloyde, all the artists we've had the pleasure to work with have all been doing incredible things.
You’ve got a very full roster now with an incredibly diverse bunch of artists. What would you say is key to running a label like this?
The keys to keeping a machine like this running are respect and passion (and coffee). A big reason the Trench team and I initially started this label was to give artists a platform for their visions. While the sounds may differ a little between the artists on the Trench roster, they all have a specific drive and energy in common.
Where do you hope to see Trench headed in the future?
Apart from continuing to drop dope releases, I see Trench throwing bigger and better events across Australia in the future. We've thrown a few parties in Sydney over the past few years that were heaps of fun. Showcasing our artist roster together with upcoming local talent is a great vibe that I'd love to take around the nation.
What have you got planned for the year?
We've got some exciting releases lined-up - you'll have to stay tuned to hear who they're from!
Very excited to have you on board for our 13th birthday! What kind of tunes are you going to bring along on the night?
We're stoked too!!! We're gonna dive in and drop some of our fave party material as well as some choice picks from our roster. We might drop some new stuff too ;)
