Live Review: Needs No Sleep's guest mix packs a deep punch

Arguably one of the most exciting names on the deep house circuit right now is Melbourne producer NEEDS NO SLEEP. In case you haven't yet been acquainted, he's currently off the back of his two-track EP, Lambo/Not My Question, out now via the good folks at This Ain't Bristol.

The four-to-the-floor guru has packed a bloody punch in the 11 minute release. The release sees him stripping it all right back to the root of what effectively makes deep house so punchy: the bassline. Opener 'Lambo' uses a pitched down vocal atop a driving bassline, and in the drop, adding bouts of a throbbing bass stab to hit it home that this release is deep house at its best.

Track two 'Not My Question' brings in a driving spoken word atop a hefty soundscape of driving bass, crisp, house percussion and glitchy sounds for one hell of a party track. Put this one on at your next party.

He's recently signed with Aussie entertainment agency Lucky Entertainment for shows here and Nocturnal Artist for European and Asian shows. With a keen ear for blending sounds and commanding dancefloors with finesse and ease, it's no wonder he's been increasingly spending more time on the club circuit.
