KIRA PURU released her self-titled EP back in September (via New Tribe Music nonetheless) but that was only the beginning for this Melbourne based party #qween. Her newest single from the EP, ‘Fly’, now boasts a fierce new music video, a sultry black and white number with Puru starring front and centre. This slice of visual pie comes served hot, ahead of a string of headline shows this November and December (KEEN) that will see the artist gracing stages in Brisbane, Sydney Melbourne and Perth, as well as some side stints at festivals like Spilt Milk and HyperFest. There’s no dust on Kira Puru’s shoulders. In fact, the dust is where she’s leaving the rest of us. Let’s take it back to the video…

Directed by Josh Harris (who has worked with multiple talents including Gang of Youths, E^ST, Middle Kids, Odette, just some casual names...), ‘Fly’ is visualised inside (and outside) of a retired Boeing-747. Puru is the plane’s captain, bedazzled captains hat and all, and with a cast of glamorous cabin crew they well and truly “take off for the night”. The video is a literal and metaphorical representation of everything the song represents, with clear sex appeal and promises of frivolous debauchery honed in by videography that lends a very film noir sense of classiness (we’re talking shadows galore people!). Harris’s skills behind the lens have created a clip that is timeless and a valuable milestone marker in what is sure to be a long and prolific career for both himself and Puru.
